Described as both a "21st century punk pop spin on some sound rock 'n roll basics" and "indie rock with a twist", there is no doubt that My Friend Irma have an undeniable and indefinable charm. Frantic and energetic, you can't help but be impressed by the band's infectious sound, captivating performances and fantastic stage presence. "...their chemistry is contagious" With a raft of bizarre and unlikely sounds and instruments, My Friend Irma always impress. The chemistry between male and female vocalists Jenni Thomas and Tom Kendon is contagious. Add to this the moody and stylish innovation of their lead guitarist Guy Henderson, and solid rhythm provided by bassist Tim Glasswell, and "tattooed colossus" drummer, Dave Morris. "over 75 gigs in the past two years..." My Friend Irma are veterans of the stage. A quick glance at the new Irma website shows that they have played over 75 gigs in the past two years. The band started out locally, winning the audience vote at The Junction's annual Red Stripe Band Competition, and have since earned a semi-regular residency at The Boat Race. Branching out nationally, the band spent much of 2000 touring the UK, playing venues such as The Rock Garden, The Little Civic, Wolverhampton and The Dublin Castle, Camden "...sell out launch nights for their album" A year of electrifying, captivating and crowd pleasing performances culminated in two sell out launch nights for their album 'Tom Bunning and Mr Late', in Cambridge and London.
