The Harlow Star

Thursday 4th May 2001

In a music world which styles some very untalented people into glossy stars, it's good to hear a slightly rawer approach.

Often tinged with and early '80s sound like The Jam, Tom Kendon's vocals keep the slightly retro feel for "No Good for Anything at All" and "Get Outta My Head" but the addition of Jen's atmospheric voice for "New Zoo" and "Child of the Sun" mean the second tracks are more reminiscent of Deacon Blue

All this could add up to a dated recipe but, in fact, the feel of the four tracks on this taster is pacey and vibrant.

My Friend Irma's demo can be ordered by contacting info@myfriendirma.co.uk or see them at The Square (Harlow) on July 20.
