_My Friend Irma, Tom Bunning & Mr Late
The release of the new album, 'Tom Bunning & Mr Late', sees Cambridge favourites My Friend Irma break new ground on the road to fame and fortune. Described by their very own press release as 'hard hitting with double edged riffs, lyrics and melodies', this offering from the band is no disappointment.

Listening to the various tracks it feels like you can almost tell who they remind you of but can never quite get there. For me it's a cross between the Dublin band Picturehouse and about half a dozen others.

With all the tracks written, arranged and performed by the quintet of Jen (vocals), Tom Kendon (vocalist and guitars), Gui Henderson (lead guitar and keyboards), Tim Glasswell (bass) and my favourite Dave Morris (drums - ever seen a man who can drum and not spill his pint?) the music has a unique sound.

The lyrics are carefully thought out, with dangerously catchy repetitions. If your feet don't tap and you don't reach for the tennis racquet to accompany the guitar riffs then there must be something wrong with your sense of rhythm. Their music is good, they are great fun and their roots are local. Watch this space... in 2001 My Friend Irma will be big.
