Here to entertain by Paul Bloomfield

My Friend Irma describe the music on their second album as entertaining, moving, perplexing and taxing.

Out this month, apothecary now was produced by the band themselves at their own fully analogue studio - The Tallow Room, near Newmarket.  Like the White Stripes’ ‘Elephant’ album, it was recorded through tubes n’ tape, with not a computer in sight.

Apothecary Now’ is a finely crafted 11 track offering that perfectly captures my friend irma‘s peculiar brand of melancholy… psychedelic soundscapes, exploratory synthesonic gurgles & burps with chainsaw guitars, laced with bittersweet fallen angel vocals.

These songs have you tight in their grip whilst others put you somewhere else completely!

With their unmissable live shows, my friend irma have won over audiences time and time again with musical charm and undeniable stage presence

My Friend Irma formed in Cambridge, in 1999, and have played more than 100 gigs, at numerous venues in the south-east including The Rock Garden in Covent Garden.  The band are made up of Dave Morris on drums, Tim Glasswell on bass guitar, Jenni Downs on vocals, Tom Kendon on vocals and guitar, and Guy Henderson on guitars and electronics.

Apothecary Now is good solid rock music that has a range of very interesting sounds and melodies that are quite different to most of the run of the mill rock.  The music has quite a raw feel to it - no nonsense stuff with a quirky vibe.

You can catch the band at the following dates:  May 10 at The Alma in Cambridge, June 21 at The Army & Navy in Chelmsford, June 28 at the Needingworth Music Festival in Cambridgeshire, July 4 at the Hermit Club in Brentwood and August 16 at The Grapes, in Bury St Edmunds.
